Do One Thing Every Day That Scares You

I love this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt:  "Do one thing every day that scares you."

It seems that each week in my coaching business has a theme.  What I've noticed this week is that so many fabulous entrepreneurs are in hiding.  I have one client who has moved to the mountains in South Africa where they have intermittent internet.  She is building an internet business, but moved to an area where she is constantly frustrated with the reception.  I have another client in Singapore who will not post his handsome face on Facebook or his webpage because his competition doesn't.

Even I've been hiding.  I have known that the best way to market my services is through video for over a year now.  I bought the camera several months ago and look at it every day.  Now you know my secret.  I'm coming out and will be creating and publishing some videos this month.  Don't worry, they won't be perfect, but I'm now okay with that.  Gulp.  I think I am.

My question to you this week is how are you hiding in your business?  What are you stopping yourself from doing?

If you're working on something and waiting for it to be absolutely perfect before you launch it, you're stopping yourself from greatness.  How do I know this?  Oh, because I've been hiding too. You're not alone.  I know other entrepreneurs who are hiding too.  My goal is to get you out of hiding.

Easier said than done right?  Here are some tips to help you get out of hiding:

  • Ask a friend for help
  • Ask Google - she knows all the answers to everything and of course Google is a "she"
  • Get out of your comfort zone
  • Change your routine
  • Get the task done that you're dreading first
  • Hire an expert to help you

Of course, make sure you do something every day that scares you.  This is the best advice for moving you forward in your business.  Remember that Thomas Edison didn't create the incandescent light bulb until he had failed 10,000 times.  Good news, with all the resources available to you today, you'll be less likely to fail 10,000 times.

Stop hiding.  Get out there!
