“Make it easy for them to…” is a phrase that always goes through my mind when I’m communicating about my business.
Here’s the thing; everyone is really busy and everyone has multiple things on their mind at the exact same time. Right?
They say that it takes between 7 and 12 contacts or touches before someone will buy from you. That means that your product or service has to come into your ideal client’s awareness over 7 times!
To be really clear, it doesn’t have to be you every single time.
One touch could be a casual conversation with one of their friends about the product or service, then seeing something in social media, then hearing it from another source.
When the person experiences to the right number of touches for them, they will usually purchase from the next person they see as long as you make it easy for them.
Years ago I remember being so hurt when I discovered that someone I had met casually had hired someone with similar knowledge, skills and ability to mine. I was so sad and felt so invisible that they didn’t go with me.
I look back on this and think about how I certainly didn’t make it easy for them to see me, know what I do for a living and how I could help them, let alone make it easy for them to reach out to connect with me.
No wonder they went with another person who was more visible and made it easy for them to say yes.
When you’re out in the world meeting people, make it easy for them to connect with you.
Make it easy for them to know what you do and how you can help them.
When you’re communicating your business, make it easy for them to find the link to connect with you.
When you’re telling people about an event you’re hosting, make it easy for them to click on the link and join you.
Make it easy for them to find you, know you and like you.
So, how can you make it easy for people to know you, like you and trust you? How can you make it easy for them to find you and connect with you? How can you make it easy for them to buy from you?
